Generally speaking, which three organizations need to see my credentials before I can begin practicing?

The State Medical Board, the Hospital, and Managed Care Organizations will need to see a physician’s credentials before practicing can begin.

Hospitals only grant physician privileges if the physician has his or her state and medical license. Managed care organizations will only allow a physician provider status if they have privileges at one or more hospitals.  Because of aforementioned organizations’ reliance on one another, the credentialing process can take a long time — even up to one year.
