Credentialing is resource intensive, burdensome, and inefficient; so, delegating the credentialing process often decreases the burden on the groups physician. In some markets, physicians have contracts with over 20 MCOs (Managed Care Organizations) and must go through 20 different credentialing processes. Thus, many groups prefer delegated credentialing because the physician completes only one credentialing application, and then the application is submitted to all pertinent parties.
